Stump Grinding in Highland, Milford & Surrounding Michigan Communities
Stump grinding is the fastest, cheapest, and least destructive way to get rid of a stump — and it's how modern stump removal is done. A carbide-toothed grinding wheel chews the stump into wood chips until it's well below ground level. No excavation, no crater — most single stumps are done in under an hour.
How deep do we grind?
Our standard grind is 6–8 inches below grade — deep enough to re-sod or seed over. Planting a new tree in the same spot? We grind 12–18 inches and chase the major lateral roots. Beware the cut-rate "flush cut" special: it looks done for a month, then the lawn sinks and sucker shoots come up.
We grind everything common to this area — borer-killed ash (often hollow at the core; we grind wide so it doesn't keep settling), dense oaks, and the big silver maples on the lake lots, where we quote the full root flare up front so there are no surprises.

Gate access is not a problem
Our compact grinder is 35 inches wide — it fits through a standard 36-inch gate. Backyard stumps, stumps between houses, stumps down a lake slope: routine.
